Thompson, Mildred

Mildred Thompson (1936-2003) was an African American artist whose work spanned over forty years. Primarily an abstractionist, her work is gaining in popularity and her work is currently represented by Galerie Lelong. Trained at Howard University beginning in 1953 under James Porter. Mildred Thompson’s studied the printmaking art in Germany in the 1960s and 1970s and brought the techniques she learned and her new talents back to the United States.
